The five-star treatment

It’s easy for other providers to shout about their discounts and short-term deals. But our home cover has substance as well as style - there are no hidden costs lurking around the corner. It’s also been rated five-star by Moneyfacts for a fantastic four years running.

You can personalise your cover so you know the important things are insured properly. We offer optional extras and you only pay for what you need. Don’t have a garden? Don’t fork out for the cover. It’s that simple.

  • No extra charge for paying by monthly direct debit.
  • No admin fees. Unlike some other insurers, if you make a change to your policy or cancel, we won’t sting you for it.
  • Straight-up cover – you only pay for what you need.
  • 10% discount for new home insurance customers.
  • Up to 4 years no claims discount*
  • If you qualify for both the new customer and no claims discount, the new customer discount will be applied to the original quote first and the no claims discount then applied to the discounted total.[2] Link to footnote
  • Moneyfacts five-star rated home insurance.
  • Core cover for buildings up to £400,000 as standard, contents up to £50,000 as standard – or choose both.
Join the nine out of ten customers who choose to renew with us year in, year out[1] Link to footnote

* Discount varies by number of years claim free. Maximum discount is 25% for 4 years no claims.

Don’t wait for your renewal date. Switch today and we’ll refund your cancellation fee

As a new Yorkshire Bank Home Insurance customer, we’ll cover any cancellation cost from your previous insurer up to £100 – as long as your new policy isn’t cancelled within the first 14 days.

To qualify for the refund, your new policy must be in the same name as the policy being cancelled. And the type of cover - such as combined building & contents – also has to be the same. The switcher claims form (PDF, link opens in a new window) must be submitted no later than 90 days after the cancellation charge from your previous policy with the accompanying evidence.

To make a claim, complete the form as per the instructions and email to cancellation.refund@uk.rsagroup.com or post to RSA, Level 2, Newhall Place, Old Hall Street, Liverpool, L69 3EN.

1. Who can take up this Offer?

  • You need to have switched your home insurance policy from another insurer to Yorkshire Bank. You must have received a cancellation charge from your previous insurer for the switching.
  • You must have switched to an equivalent type of home insurance policy. For example, if you are switching from a combined buildings and contents policy, you need to have switched to a combined buildings and contents policy.
  • Your new policy must relate to the same property address, building and/or contents as the policy you have cancelled. The buildings and/or contents must belong to the policy holder(s) only.
  • The first-named policy holder must be the same for your previous and new policies.
  • You can only take part in this Offer once a year. You can only take part for one household.
  • Unfortunately, you can’t take part if:
    - you are employed by RSA.
    - you are switching between Clydesdale Bank and Yorkshire Bank policies.
    - you already have a Clydesdale Bank or Yorkshire Bank home insurance policy. For example, if you are taking out an additional policy for a second home.
    - you change your mind about taking out your new policy within the 14-day cooling off period.

2. How do you take up this Offer?

  • You’ll need to complete and e-mail us your switcher claim form. Send your form to the RSA e-mail address (cancellation.refund@uk.rsagroup.com) noted on the form. You have 90 days from when you receive your cancellation charge. You’ll need to include any evidence we’ve requested too.
  • If you do not have access to an email address, you can post your form to: RSA, Level 2, Newhall Place, Old Hall Street, Liverpool, L69 3EN
  • If you are claiming for more than one cancellation charge, use one claim form. We’ll treat this as one claim.

3. What is the Offer?

  • We will pay your policy cancellation charges, up to £100.
  • If you are cancelling two separate policies, you might incur two separate charges. For example, if you have separate buildings and contents policies. If this is the case, the maximum total we will pay is £100.
  • We can only pay cancellation charges. This means we can’t pay any other expenses or fees.
  • You can only take up this Offer once for each Yorkshire Bank policy.

4. How do I receive my payment?

  • We will send your payment by cheque. We will send this within 30 days of receiving your valid claim form.
  • Cheques are made out to the policy holder(s). RSA will send these to the address we have registered for the policy holder(s).

5. What else do you need to know about our Home Insurance?

  • Yorkshire Bank Home insurance policies are underwritten and administered by our partners at RSA.
  • We don’t provide advice in relation to home insurance policies. This means that you will need to make sure the policy covers your needs.
  • When you are cancelling any home insurance policy, check your timescales to make sure you have cover in place at all times.
  • If you cancel your existing policy before it’s due to end, you might not benefit from any “no claims” benefit under that policy. We aren’t responsible is this happens.
  • Our home insurance policy terms and eligibility criteria apply to any policy you take out. You can find more details here

6. What else do you need to know about this Offer?

  • We’ll use your personal information to help us run this Offer. You can find out more in our privacy notice at https://secure.cbonline.co.uk/site-information/legal-privacy/fair-processing-notice/
  • Only English law applies to this Offer.
  • If something goes wrong, we’ll try to fix it. If we can’t because it’s something we can’t reasonably control, or it’s not our fault, then we may have to make changes to this Offer. This includes suspending or ending it early. We can make such changes without giving you notice. However, we’ll try our best to avoid making changes. And we’ll try to minimise any disappointment to you when we make changes.
  • On the odd occasion, disputes happen in relation to Offers. We really hope to avoid them! If any problems come up, we will try to resolve them quickly. We’ll make the final decision in relation to any issues relating to the running of this Offer.

Practical guidance and how to make a claim

Footnotes

[1] Based on all Clydesdale Bank Home Insurance policies renewed between October 15 and August 19.

[2] For example, if you qualify for both 10% new customer discount and 25% 4 years no claims discount, then 10% will be applied first to the original quote. The additional 25% reduction will then be applied to the discounted total e.g. if quote was £100, 10% discount brings total to £90 minus 25% = final price of £67.50.

Three steps towards the cover you need

  1. Core cover – Pick the main kind of cover you need. Choose from buildings, contents, or both.
  2. Optional extras – Let us know the important stuff that you need covered. Cameras and computers or pots and plants – your policy reflects what you choose.
  3. Online quote – You’ll get a personalised online quote.
