Yorkshire Bank scores for charity

Yorkshire Bank staff and business customers recently put on their football boots and competed in a human table football tournament to raise money for charity.

The competition was held as part of Yorkshire Banks’ Business Week calendar of events. A total of £500 was raised and donated to Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice, the chosen charity of the Bank’s Business and Private Banking Centre in Birmingham.

The tournament took place at The Pavillion, Birmingham City University Grounds, on Wednesday with teams of five competing in an inflatable version of the popular game. The customers came out on top with electronics retailer, McGeoch Technology, beating manufacturer, Birmingham Aluminium, 2-1 in the final round. The players were treated to a well-deserved buffet at half-time.

Prior to kick-off, the competitors heard from Peter Brooke, Relationship Manager, on the importance of the local business community working together to create something positive. Muna Chauhan from Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice then spoke to guests about the good work carried out by the charity.

Peter said: “Today’s event was good fun with everyone getting stuck into the game to raise money for an extremely worthy cause. In the end we had to admit defeat to our customers who took home the winning title. The event gave us a chance to speak to our customers in a relaxed setting and encourage them to continue striving to reach their growth ambitions which we will fully support.”

Business Week ran from 11th–15th May and saw more than 250 customer-focused events staged at the Bank’s UK-wide network of Business and Private Banking Centres, including a number of high profile events in the Midlands area.
