An Alcester engineering firm that manufactures bespoke press tools and prototype parts for leading automotive brands is planning to invest in recruitment and machinery with financial support from Yorkshire Bank.
Angstrom Engineering Ltd switched its banking to Yorkshire Bank two months ago. The lender has provided a six figure flexible overdraft facility to allow the business to expand. The firm plans to grow its team of 14 and invest in new equipment during the next 12 months.
The engineering firm offers a broad range of services, mainly catering to the automotive sector, and boasts an impressive customer base, including Rolls-Royce, Land Rover and Nissan.
Graham Hill, director at Angstrom Engineering Ltd, states the most noticeable components produced by the business include trim for premium sector vehicles but they also produce many parts hidden under the bonnet and body.
Graham said: “Some of our recent, high-profile projects which we are particularly proud of include the tooling for the Rolls Royce Wraith dashboard, Range Rover speaker grills, and seat components for the Porsche 918 hypercar. Outside of the automotive sector, we also manufacture tools for the aerospace and white goods markets.”
Graham chose to switch his banking to receive a more personal and flexible service. The new facility was arranged by Peter Brooke, relationship manager at Yorkshire Bank’s Business and Private Banking Centre in Birmingham.
Graham said: “I’ve spoken to Peter more in the last two months than I spoke to my previous bank during our entire business relationship. He has taken the time to really understand our organisation and what areas I would like to focus on in the future.”
Angstrom Engineering Ltd was established in 2010 when Graham left his job of 20 years at another press tooling manufacturer.
Graham said: “When working in an organisation, you often find you would like to do things differently. I learned that a lot of the best ideas come from listening to your own people and this is the ethos I adopted when I started Angstrom. We plan to be much more innovative in the coming years, and we will be able to rival the far east.”
Graham’s love of cars is paralleled in his other business, Studley Garage and Engineering Works, a revisit to his family’s post-war business, which sources and imports historic vehicles from around the world for clients in the UK.
Richard Wallace, Head of Yorkshire Bank’s Business and Private Banking Centre in Birmingham, said: “Graham has shown the success that can be achieved when an individual with a wealth of experience chooses to branch out on their own. Angstrom Engineering Ltd has developed a strong reputation in the local business community and has built relationships with a number of world-leading automotive companies. We are proud to have been selected by the firm to support its future growth.
“Yorkshire Bank is committed to supporting the growth of the automotive manufacturing sector by providing a flexible and specialist approach.”
