Oil and gas firm is equipped for the future with support from Clydesdale Bank

24 November 2015

Aberdeenshire oil and gas service firm Brimmond Group is moving to purpose built new premises that will enable it to expand, thanks to Clydesdale Bank.

Brimmond Group supplies, manufactures, refurbishes, tests and repairs hydraulic equipment used in the energy sector. The business is moving to a bespoke new facility set on 2.5 acres of land close to its current location in Kintore, Aberdeenshire.

Clydesdale Bank supported the construction of the new premises with a seven figure funding package. The deal was delivered by Graeme Hood, relationship manager at Clydesdale Bank’s Business and Private Banking Centre in Aberdeen.

Established in 1996, Brimmond Group employs 25 highly skilled engineering staff across a range of disciplines. Many of the company’s employees have come through the Scottish modern apprenticeship scheme that Brimmond Group supports.

The group’s sister organisation, Rigrun Europe, a global provider of supply, refurbishment and support services of offshore motion compensating systems, marine riser tensioners and relief valves, will also be located within the new premises. The business now has the workspace and internal lifting capacity to carry out a wider range of services and capabilities.

Other divisions include Preffered Marine which holds the renowned Effer crane franchise for the UK and Ireland region and Pump Solutions, providing pumping equipment for all standard and turnkey requirements.

The new premises is home to test facilities allowing pressure tests and load tests of up to 1000 tonnes for Cranes, LARS and winch systems as well as storage facilities; creating a one-stop shop facility for many clients.

Alistair Murdoch, Managing Director for the group, said: “Moving to this new facility has been the product of hard work by all staff and loyal customers, with this now being our third relocation to larger facilities due to steady growth over the years. This new facility will now open new areas and plans for growth with both current and potential clients, following the recent appointment of a Business Development Manager.”

“Clydesdale Bank’s knowledgeable team has been extremely supportive of our plans from day one. With extensive experience of the oil and gas sector, they quickly showed that they understood our business and recognised the growth opportunity available.

“With the current testing conditions in the marketplace, we remain positive that we can now deal confidently with the challenges ahead due to both our new facility and the support of Clydesdale Bank.”

Stephen Hepburn, Head of Clydesdale Bank’s Aberdeen Business and Private Banking Centre, said: “Brimmond Group is a strong, well-managed business with ambitious growth plans. We look forward to working in partnership with its management to expand and develop its service provision.

“Our specialist knowledge of and focus on different sectors helps to support the market giving small and medium sized businesses the speed and flexibility they require to achieve their growth ambitions.”
