Galashiels telecoms firm creates new jobs with support from Clydesdale Bank

An independent Galashiels-based telecoms business is growing and creating sought after apprentice-level jobs with support from Clydesdale Bank.

GB Technologies, which installs business telephone systems, is recruiting new trainees after receiving a funding package from Clydesdale Bank’s Borders Business and Private Banking team.

Founded more than 20 years ago, GB Technologies specialises in supplying small and medium sized business (SMEs). Its services include business telephone systems, IT infrastructure and IT support.

Customers include Abbotsford House, the former home of Sir Walter Scott, textiles manufacturer Lochcarron of Scotland and estate agents McEwan Fraser.

The business has grown rapidly in recent years and now employs 20 staff, including two apprentice positions created last year. As a result of continued growth, supported by Clydesdale Bank, the business has received a funding package to recruit new staff including apprentices in a variety of roles including billing and sales and marketing. One apprentice has already been appointed and a further full time job created.

GB Technologies has been a Clydesdale Bank customer for about 10 years.

“We wouldn’t be in the position to create jobs if it hasn’t been for Clydesdale Bank. Their knowledgeable staff have always been there for us with the right advice and facilities to support our growth.”
