A successful Derby-based furniture supplier has strengthened its business after purchasing premises with support from Yorkshire Bank.
Silly Sids has been located on Balaclava Street since 1985 and has been run by husband and wife team Mick and Tracey Harding for the last 12 years. The family-run business specialises in discount furniture for the home and also offers dedicated delivery and assembly services for landlords and letting agencies.
Mick and Tracey made the decision to purchase the premises after the existing landlords chose to put the property up for auction. Yorkshire Bank provided a six-figure funding package which allowed the couple to bid successfully. The deal was completed by Shelley Fox and the Business Direct team.
Tracey Harding, co-owner of Silly Sids, said: “We’ve been with Yorkshire Bank for a long time, so we already had a strong relationship with them. Due to the short notice which the landlords gave us we had to move fast or we would have had to find new premises.
“The Bank’s team understood our situation and moved quickly to ensure we could take the opportunity. This is a significant investment in our business but one which will put us in a strong position for the future.
Shelley Fox, Business Development Manager at Yorkshire Bank said: “With the funding provided through Business Direct , the Harding family have been able to take full control of their business.
“As well as selling furniture to the public, Silly Sids supplies the local council, schools and social services. It’s extremely rewarding to know we’ve been able to help the Hardings cement Silly Sids’ future in the local community.
“We look forward to continuing to work with the family and supporting their business’ future growth.”
