Clydesdale Bank’s Ayr team raises £9,000 for Ayrshire Hospice

A charity golf tournament organised by Clydesdale Bank in Ayr has raised £9,000 in aid of the Ayrshire Hospice.

On May 29, 19 teams from the local community took part in a Texas Scramble-style event at the Kintyre links course, situated in the picturesque Trump Turnberry golf resort.

With only one brief rain shower during the event the organisers were lucky, not only with the weather but also with the generosity of guests. The event raised just over £9,000 for the Ayrshire Hospice, including match funding provided by Clydesdale Bank.

Prizes were provided by Westland Castings with Agri-Tech Global’s team triumphing and a team from Murphy Insurance taking second place in the tournament. The event was organised by David Jellema, relationship manager in Clydesdale Bank‘s Ayr Business and Private Banking Centre, and co-hosted by Norman Geddes, senior director of Frazer Coogans Solicitors in Ayr and executive chairman of the Elite Ayrshire Business Circle.

Norman said: “I’d like to thank all of the Ayrshire businesses who took part in our latest charity golf tournament and our sponsors for their support and generosity. We’re also delighted that Clydesdale Bank provided match-funding to increase the amount raised to over £9,000.

“It is rewarding to know that the local business community is helping the Ayrshire Hospice to continue to provide quality hospice care to the local community.”

The Ayrshire Hospice provides quality free care and services to those with life limiting illness. In the eight years that the Bank’s Ayr team has been organising golf tournaments in aid of the hospice they have raised nearly £80,000.
