Birchall Foodservice thriving in new site

14th July 2015

A leading Lancashire catering wholesaler is flourishing after moving to new premises six months ago.

Birchall Foodservice outgrew its Hapton headquarters and relocated to a £3 million facility at Burnley Bridge Business Park with funding support from Yorkshire Bank.

Since the move in January, the family-run firm has seen continued expansion of its offering which now includes a butchery department and training and exhibition centre.

Around 100 guests, including customers and suppliers attended an open day at the new headquarters in May.

One of the guests on the day, John Shaw, owner of Beeches Butchers in Barrowford, commented: “It’s so impressive and there’s lots of room for further expansion. The whole place was spotlessly clean and the fridges and freezers were massive.”

Justin Birchall, Managing Director of Birchall Foodservice, said: “Moving to Burnley Bridge has allowed us to achieve a number of our growth targets and plan for further expansion.

“The move meant we could double our capacity, creating new jobs and boosting productivity.

“We are developing new sales and product strategies including employing a development chef for the newly completed development kitchen.

“Yorkshire Bank understood our growth plans and helped us realise them by providing funding for the move. They were professional, courteous and helpful throughout the process.”

Ian Hardman, Head of Yorkshire Bank’s Business and Private Banking Centre in Preston, said: “I am proud that Yorkshire Bank continues to support Birchall Foodservice continue their expansion.

“The new facility is just one of a number of growth initiatives that the family firm are working on. I look forward to continuing to work with Justin and the Birchall family.”
