Yorkshire Bank Opens New Branch in Newcastle

Yorkshire Bank has opened its new branch on Northumberland Street in Newcastle.

The new branch is part of a £25 million investment programme by Yorkshire Bank to upgrade the existing branch network to meet changing customer needs. A further £20 million is being invested in improved services for customers including the expansion of mobile and internet banking as well as new products.

Replacing the current branch at 29 to 31 Pilgrim Street, the new branch is conveniently located within the town’s pedestrian shopping area at 131 to 135 Northumberland Street and will provide customers with two counter positions, two interview rooms and two interview pods, two ATMs and a deposit self-service facility. Opening hours have been extended to 5pm on weekdays and the new branch will also open on a Saturday.

A Business and Private Banking centre will be located on the first floor of the branch early in the New Year and this will include a business lounge and meeting facilities.

With a new modern design and featuring digital posters for marketing and customer information, the branch will also showcase the latest technology including bespoke iPads which can be used to register customers for internet banking, assist with product discussions and gather customer feedback as well as providing quick links to the Yorkshire Bank website. Free WIFI will also be available for customers.

All eight employees from the former branch - which has now closed - have transferred to the new premises. Chris Harrison, Branch Manager, said: “We are delighted to move to this new branch on Northumberland Street which underlines our commitment to the area.

“The branch will be staffed by familiar faces to ensure customers continue to get the great personal service they expect.”

Northumberland Street branch will be open from 9.15am to 5pm Monday to Friday and from 9.15am to 1.15pm on Saturdays.Picture of front of new branch
