Recruitment firm banks on international expansion

31st August 2012

An award-winning technology recruitment firm hopes to add a host of new international clients to its books with support from Clydesdale Bank.

MBN Recruitment, based in Glasgow, has been granted invoice finance facilities to help it grow its service provision and expand its international business. The company has already moved successfully into the English market, and works with a number of clients in Europe.

Since it was founded in 2007, MBN Recruitment has become one of the UK’s leading technology recruitment specialists, winning a string of industry awards and undergoing rapid expansion. This year turnover is expected to grow to £2.5 million from around £1.5 million last year.

In the last nine months, the firm has also doubled its workforce, bringing to 16 the number of people it employs. As part of its plans to grow the business, the company has invested significantly in training, with all new recruitment consultants undertaking a bespoke eight-week training course.

MBN Recruitment is focused on the technology, digital and analytics sectors, and sources staff at all levels - from graduate trainees to company directors. Its client portfolio includes FTSE 100 companies, financial services, retailers and utility companies. It also provides services to SMEs, consultancies and other suppliers within the IT sector.

Michael Young, managing director of MBN Recruitment, said: “We took the decision to seek a partner to provide an invoice finance solution as we identified this to be a requirement if we were to achieve our expansion goals. At the moment MBN has a strong footing in Scotland, and we have now expanded successfully into England where today the majority of our income is generated.

“Clydesdale Bank proved that not only could they provide the best financial solution but they also took the time to get to know our business and to support us in setting up the various systems required to utilise invoice financing.

“Now with Clydesdale Bank support we can expand further our business both in terms of breadth of service and in geographical coverage. Our focus is to grow a thriving export business.”

Derek Smith, business development partner at Clydesdale Bank’s business banking centre in Edinburgh, said: “Clydesdale Bank is pleased to be working with MBN Recruitment, a vibrant, young Scottish business, which has won a number of industry accolades for its quality recruitment services.

“IT recruitment is an important sector as it sources staff not just for IT companies but for all organisations which utilise technology as part of their operations.

“MBN Recruitment already counts many high profile UK businesses among its clients and Clydesdale Bank looks forward to helping it achieve its ambitions of expanding its client base internationally.”
