28th May 2012

Yorkshire Bank has launched a new prepaid currency card in partnership with MasterCard®.

The card is available to Yorkshire Bank customers in three currencies - Sterling, Euro or US Dollar.

Yorkshire and sister bank, Clydesdale are the only UK high street banks to offer the card instantly and without the need for additional application forms.

The cards can be used for online purchases and in more than 33 million locations worldwide which display the MasterCard acceptance mark. They can also be used to withdraw cash at ATMs.

Customers can check the balance and top-up over the phone, via internet banking or in branch. An additional card for added peace of mind when on holiday is available free of charge as is free 24/7 global assistance from a UK call centre where trained advisers are on-hand to help with a range of queries from balance enquiries and PIN requests to assistance with lost or stolen cards.

Steve Reid, Retail Director added: "We are delighted to offer our customers instant issue prepaid currency cards. They are not only more convenient but can be cheaper than using debit or credit cards abroad."
