A Nottingham firm which specialises in pipeline inspection and maintenance is to expand its presence in the city and create new jobs after securing financial support from Yorkshire Bank.
Hygienic Pigging Systems (HPS) is moving to 8,500 sq ft premises in Evelyn Street, Beeston, after outgrowing its base of 16 years at Nottingham Science and Technology Park and has become a new customer of Yorkshire Bank.
The move will lead to five skilled engineering jobs being created at the firm, which was established in 1995 and employs around 20 people, and could lead to further positions being created later this year.
Yorkshire Bank’s Nottingham Financial Solutions Centre (FSC) is funding the refurbishment of the new premises through its Investing for Growth initiative.
Pigging is the practice of using pipeline inspection ‘pigs’ to perform various maintenance operations on pipelines to ensure they continue to operate at maximum efficiency.
HPS provides systems to blue-chip firms across the world and has clients in the homecare, food and beverages, beers, wines and spirits, confectionery, pharmaceuticals and paints industries.
Operations Director Stefan Olszok said the firm has enjoyed strong growth since a management buy out in 2005 and is on target to raise turnover from £2.5 million to £3 million this year supported by on-going export demands.
“We’ve grown to become one of the leading providers of product recovery systems for many liquid manufacturing companies across the world,” he said.
“Our systems reduce product waste and water usage, increase product yield, allow for faster change over and separation of products, and ultimately reduce carbon footprints and increase profit margins.
“Around 70 per cent of our business is now through exporting. We have subsidiaries set up in Australia, agents working in China, Russia and India, and we’ve also formed key partnerships in the USA and Brazil. We’re also working with many of the major health and beauty suppliers in the UK.”
Stefan said HPS had outgrown its current base and the move to Evelyn Street, and becoming a customer of Yorkshire Bank, would enable the firm to expand even further.
“We’ve managed to continue to grow during what remains a tough time for businesses and are jumping from a 2,000 sq ft facility to 8,500 sq ft, which gives us space to expand in the near future,” he added.
“Yorkshire Bank has been extremely supportive and listened to our plans and we are pleased to be working with them.”
Carl Dickinson, managing partner at Yorkshire Bank’s Nottingham FSC on Castle Meadow Road, said the Investing for Growth initiative was launched by the bank for businesses just like HPS.
“Hygienic Pigging Systems is a real success story for Nottingham and the East Midlands,” he said.
“HPS is working with some of the world’s largest companies and has successful operations across the globe and is certainly in a strong position to build on its success.
“The move to larger premises will enable HPS to grow even further and also create highly skilled jobs for the region.
“We’re delighted to be supporting Stefan and the management team through Yorkshire Bank’s Investing for Growth initiative which is perfect for companies wanting to expand into new premises or launch new products.”
