The British Institute of Agricultural Consultants’ (BIAC) Young Consultant of the Year award has been presented to Lucy Hopwood, Head of Biomass and Biogas at the National Non-Food Crops Centre (NNFCC), for recognition of her involvement within the industry, particularly her work on anaerobic digestion.
The BIAC annual awards, sponsored this year by Clydesdale Bank, were open to young self-employed or company employee professionals (under 35) who offer advice to agricultural clients. Five finalists were chosen to be interviewed by the judging panel, which included Nicholas Hunt, Clydesdale Bank, Anthony Hyde, CEO, BIAC, Richard Cooksley, BIAC and last year’s winner, Alex Walters.
Lucy was presented with a winning cheque for £1,000, along with a trophy to be held for one year, a memento, and free membership to the BIAC for the year, at a special lunch ceremony. She will also be provided with opportunities from the BIAC and Clydesdale Bank to participate in a range of conferences, workshops and seminars during 2012.
Nicholas Hunt, Agribusiness Partner at Clydesdale Bank’s East Anglia Financial Solutions Centre (FSC), said: “These awards are a great way to recognise the outstanding work carried out by young professionals within the agricultural industry. Clydesdale Bank is privileged to be part of the awards this year and personally it was great to be involved in the judging process, rewarding and encouraging talented young professionals.”
