Today 5th October 2010 Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks are unveiling a bespoke blend of tea specifically designed to bring communities together by getting people talking.
The unique communi-tea blend contains ingredients that make the drinker more inclined to chat to their neighbours thanks to the brew’s herbal properties.
The classic English breakfast tea is infused with memory-enhancing ingredients including Ginkgo leaves and Ginseng root and contains Gotu Kola, a rare herb which can help drinkers become more confident and talkative.
The blend is currently available in selected Clydesdale and Yorkshire Bank branches, including the branches in Leeds and Glasgow.
With figures from the UK Tea Council revealing that 165 million cups of tea are consumed in the UK every single day, the good old cuppa remains an important part of British life. Alex Probyn, tea blender at Blends for Friends, who created the tea, said: "Tea fuels our social interactions in Britain. It's the first thing we offer to someone when we meet and our favourite antidote when we're down."
"So, what better way to bring communities together than with a blend of tea specifically designed with our neighbourhoods in mind? It's the first time this combination of ingredients has been used in a blend of tea and is sure to get neighbours everywhere chatting and laughing together."
The community blend has been created in celebration of Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks' Spirit of Community Awards. The awards help to recognise those individuals who are carrying out exceptional acts in their communities and bring neighbourhoods together by rewarding these people with a cash prize. Part of this prize will be a donation towards a charity or community project of the winners’ choice.
