Yorkshire Bank Raises £608 For Hospice Charities

22/7/09

YORKSHIRE Bank’s Financial Solutions Centre in Blackburn has raised £608 for three hospice charities after staging a ladies shopping and networking night.

The bank, based on Shadsworth Business Park, held a summer essentials themed evening and raffle aimed at local professionals and customers.

More than 35 guests attended the fundraiser who helped raise £304 on the night, which Yorkshire Bank matched to make a grand total of £608. The proceeds will be shared between Help the Hospices, the bank’s chosen charity partner, and Pendleside Hospice and East Lancashire Hospice.

Sherryl Turner, a deposit specialist at Yorkshire Bank’s Financial Solutions Centre in Blackburn, organised the event. She said: “Everyone had an enjoyable evening where they got the chance to network and stock up on summer essentials, whilst at the same time raising £608 for three very worthy causes - which is not bad going for only an hour and half’s fundraising!”

The accessories available to buy on the night included handbags, designer sunglasses and handbags, which were supplied by Judith Thornber from County Vogue in Clitheroe.

Kaye Bartle, Pendleside Hospice’s fundraising manager, added: “It is wonderful that Yorkshire Bank has once again helped to support the vital work carried out by local hospices. We are really grateful for all the money raised, which will go some way to help us reach our fundraising targets that will directly help local people.”
