New research has today (date) revealed that one in three Brits are looking at ways to boost their household incomes.
Yorkshire Bank’s quarterly Housebuyers Report has revealed that 38% of people in the UK are turning to alternative ways to make money, from selling unwanted goods online to taking in lodgers.
The most enterprising of UK regions is the South West, with 53% of those surveyed claiming they are trying to raise extra funds.
The research has also revealed that the number of people trying to find new ways to raise extra money has increased by 26% over the past 12 months.

The English are the most enterprising in the UK, with 40% of those surveyed looking at additional ways to enhance their household incomes. However, it seems that Scots are not living up to their thrifty reputation, with just 21% attempting to boost their earnings.
For the UK as a whole, online selling has become the nation’s favourite way of raising additional cash - 20% of homeowners are now regularly selling goods online.
It appears that Yorkshire and Humberside are leading the way in Internet selling with 27% of those surveyed currently taking advantage of online auction sites.
However, in Scotland car boot sales are still the top choice when it comes to selling unwanted goods, with 13% of Scots regularly taking a pitch at a car boot sale to help boost their income.
