Proteus Pulls In Double Deal

24/6/09

A leading provider of warehouse management software is celebrating winning two major contracts worth £250,000.

Proteus Software Limited, which is based at Birmingham Business Park in Solihull, has been working with UK and international companies to move, manage, locate and handle stock for more than 20 years.

It has landed a £200,000 deal to supply a speech activated stock control system to The PRL Group after its long-term clients won a contract to supply third party logistics services to leading distributor Robert Roberts Limited.

The PRL Group has worked with Proteus for 12 years and will use the Midlands firm’s warehouse management system to handle the stock control of Robert Roberts’ wines and spirits.

Since being founded in 1987, Proteus has grown to employ 22 people at its Midlands base, has operations running across Africa and Asia, and has also just secured a £50,000 contract to support global charity Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) to process its gift wear orders and monitor stock control.

Proteus Software chief executive David Gray said he was delighted to land the contracts, and also praised the support received from Yorkshire Bank during a testing time for small businesses.

“We have struck up a successful partnership with The PRL Group for a number of years so we’re really pleased to continue working with the company,” said Gray.

“ACN was also extremely keen to get us on board and we look forward to enjoying a long relationship with an organisation which helps such charitable and worthy causes.

“It is a tough time for many businesses out there at the moment, but it is very refreshing to have a bank which is very active and supports small businesses as much as Yorkshire Bank does.

“They help us manage our cash flow in a clear and concise way and have been extremely supportive which helps us maintain our existing clients and continue to attract new business.”

Gary Foster, a business banking partner at Yorkshire Bank’s Birmingham Financial Solutions Centre, added: “Proteus Software is performing very well on an international level, and has been doing so for a long time.

“They have worked hard to become a leading supplier of warehouse IT solutions and Yorkshire Bank is pleased to offer our continued support.”
