New Premises Move For Expect Distribution After Gaining Yorkshire Bank Backing

25/6/09

A MOVE into new £8m premises in Bradford has been completed by warehousing and distribution business Expect Distribution after gaining backing from Yorkshire Bank.

The £12.5m turnover business, founded 21 years ago, has acquired and developed the new purpose-built warehouse and distribution centre at Premier Point, Staithgate Lane, overlooking one of Bradford’s main access links, with funding from Yorkshire Bank’s West Yorkshire Financial Solutions Centre (FSC).

Expect Distribution, previously known as Pennine Parcels, has relocated from Halifax where it was founded in 1988 but is retaining its original depot to increase its warehousing capacity from 4,000 pallets to 16,000 pallets over the two sites.

Managing director Bob Rushworth, says: “Our new warehouse and distribution centre overlooks the M606 and is clearly visible to passing traffic which is an ideal  promotion for our business as well as allowing us fast access to the motorway network.

“As well as being designed and built to very high standards to enhance working efficiency and to create a more flexible service to our customers, the new depot has space for projected future expansion as we continue to make progress even in the current tough climate.

“Yorkshire Bank’s West Yorkshire FSC has held our account since the early 1990s and has a detailed knowledge of our business.  The bank shows a very keen interest in the company's development which its has actively encouraged over the years.”

Expect  Distribution, which has 142 staff and was nominated haulier of the year in 2007, delivers palletised goods on behalf of customers throughout manufacturing and retail with 70 per cent passing through the Birmingham-based Palletine Network, the longest-established pallet network in the country which it helped to establish 18 years ago to create opportunities for cost-effective, overnight deliveries.

Yorkshire Bank West Yorkshire FSC business partner, Steven Stocker, says: “This exciting new warehouse and distribution facility will enable Expect Distribution to stay at the top of its sector nationally. We are very much open to support trading businesses and are pleased to have been able to support Expect Distribution in this important stage in its development.”

Yorkshire Bank’s West Yorkshire FSC, which also covers Kirklees and Calderdale, comprises 45 staff in multi-discipline teams encompassing corporate banking, private wealth management, treasury services and credit and operates a traditional method of banking with funding from deposits used to support investments in the local community.
