Confident Carol Helps New Networking Group Achieve Its Aims

10/7/09

The second networking event for women of influence in the financial services sector in Birmingham had the royal seal of approval.

Carol Coombes, who was awarded the OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours this month, gave a presentation called Playing to your Strengths to REFER.

REFER was set up earlier this year to encourage women of influence in the financial services sector in the city to meet regularly to network and generate business.

Around 30 women attended its second meeting at the Radisson SAS Hotel in Birmingham, where Carol gave advice on achieving potential.

Elaine Reeves, Partner of Yorkshire Bank’s Financial Solutions Centre in Temple Row, Birmingham, who launched REFER with Sara Pinder, Director at Cobbetts LLP, said: “Carol is a lady of great influence in our city and a specialist in helping business leaders reach their goals.

“After hearing her speak you go away feeling enthused and ready to achieve almost anything.”

She added: “We appreciate in the current market place that any time spent away from the office has to be valuable and deliver tangible results. Businesses are aiming to reduce business expenses and we’re looking to utilise local businesses at REFER events.

”Moving forward we want to promote local businesses that may be of assistance to our members as many of our ladies are looking for different companies who can help them when planning and delivering network events and functions.”
