Yorkshire Bank supports hospice care

14/03/08

Hospices across the UK will benefit from a new partnership between Help the Hospices and Yorkshire Bank.

Bank employees will be pulling out all the stops to raise money for local hospice charities and Help the Hospices, the hospice movement’s national charity, over the Easter period.

The mammoth fundraising drive kicks off the new official charity partnership between Help the Hospices, Yorkshire Bank and sister organisation Yorkshire Bank which will also see bank staff volunteering at their local hospices.

Yorkshire’s networks of over 190 branches, 37 Financial Solutions Centres and its head office staff have been matched with individual hospice charities local to them.
The new partnership will incorporate both national and local initiatives and forms part of the Bank’s corporate community investment programme which includes corporate donations, staff volunteering programmes and community partnerships focusing on numeracy and financial literacy.

Maxine Blunden, director of fundraising, Help the Hospices, said, “We are very excited to be working with Yorkshire Bank; it’s clear they are genuinely committed to helping the communities in which they operate.”

Dean Cutbill, products & marketing director for Yorkshire Bank, commented, “There’s a lot of enthusiasm among our employees for the new partnership. People are particularly excited by the fact that money raised locally will benefit their local hospice so they see the direct impact of their efforts. It’s always difficult choosing a new partner from so many good causes, but Help the Hospices is a very worthwhile charity and we are proud to play our part in supporting the communities in which we live and work.

“Some of our employees have already been supporting their local hospice for some time so it’s clear that this is a cause that is close to people’s hearts. We are also exploring ways that employees can use their specific skills in finance and other areas to the benefit of hospices.”

Yorkshire Bank will kick start the partnership with a £10,000 donation. The new partnership follows the Bank’s successful three year relationship with the British Heart Foundation which raised more than £500,000.
