Yorkshire Bank gets into pole position

13/02/07

Yorkshire Bank is leading the way in making life easier for the Polish community in Yorkshire.  The Bank is to celebrate the contribution that the estimated 100,000 Poles make to the Yorkshire economy by launching a product designed for the Polish community for day to day banking and sending money back to Poland.

Gary Lumby, Head of Retail for the Bank said, "Yorkshire Bank is about making life better for its customers, and this initiative is about making life better for the number of Polish nationals who are coming to Yorkshire and contributing to our economy.

"We focused on what our new customers wanted - ease of account opening, a good current account, support in overcoming the language barrier and the cost of international money transfer.

"Yorkshire is a fantastic place to live and work so it is unsurprising that so many Poles are coming here.  Yorkshire Bank's approach will make life that little bit easier for Poles in Yorkshire."

Yorkshire Bank has translated product information into Polish and has an exclusive Polish language helpline on all Yorkshire Bank products.  Yorkshire Bank is also currently offering free Zloty transfers above £500 (normally £24).

Claire Shields, Head of New Business Development, said, "Some 100,000 Poles now live and work in Yorkshire.  We've listened to what is important for our customers and this product is designed about what they have said they need - that's what Yorkshire Bank is all about - helping and connecting people."

The product is now available to all customers.  In addition to access to all Yorkshire Bank branches, the Bank's call centre (named the world's best call centre last November in an award ceremony in Las Vegas) has a dedicated Polish language telephone line, enabling customers to manage their finances in their own language.
