Yorkshire Bank completes multi-million pound deal

23/05/07

Yorkshire Bank, the UK's best-performing business bank*, has completed a £10 million deal that will help one of the country's most successful haulage companies to expand.

Established over 20 years ago, Teesside-based Bulmers Logistics has grown from a family partnership focusing on local farm haulage in Malton to become a national operator with an annual turnover of £26 million.

Bulmers Logistics opened two new depots in Hull and Immingham in September 2006 to service the growing Humber region.  It now employs 350 staff and has a fleet of over 250 vehicles.

Due to opportunities with existing customers the company will be opening a further depot in Felixstowe.  The Felixstowe depot will give great synergies with vehicles being able to swap loads.

"Bulmers is a business on the rise and has great opportunities to widen its operations across the UK," said Andrew Kerley, Business Partner for Yorkshire Bank's Financial Solutions Centre in York.

"Supporting local indigenous businesses - from nurturing and supporting their ambitions, to raising finance and helping them to meet growth plans - is something that Yorkshire Bank is fully committed to, and we recognise the value that partnering businesses like Bulmers brings to the local area."

Bulmers Logistics' Financial Director Nick Scott added:

"Our business focus is haulage, not finance, and as specialists ourselves we recognise the value of what Yorkshire Bank had to offer us, the support given so far has enabled Bulmers to restructure its finance activities to drive out non value adding costs."

"This project adds to our ambitious growth plans for the future, and we're confident that it will help to pave the way for us to grow the business further."
