Your card is protected by Mastercard Identity Check. It’s our way of making sure you have a safe online shopping experience when you use your Yorkshire Bank credit card online.
When you use your card in shops and restaurants, it uses the latest Chip and PIN technologies to beat the fraudsters. When you use your card online, Mastercard® Identity Check™ protects you even more without the need to register or remember a password. Using either our Mobile Banking App or a one-time passcode sent to your registered phone number, Identity Check lets you identify yourself as the owner of the card and stops anyone else using your card online.
To make sure all online transactions are secure, you may be asked verify your identity when you use your Mastercard at a participating online retailer.
If you are registered for the Mobile Banking App, we will send a message to your App. You will need to accept this message before you can complete your transaction.
If you have a mobile or landline number on record (and do not have the Mobile Banking App) then we will send you a six-digit one-time passcode for you to enter on screen at the retailer’s checkout.
If you do not have either then please be aware that your transaction may be declined.”
Mastercard Identity Check works with most modern browsers. If you have software that blocks pop-up windows you might have to disable that.

To give you more protection against fraud we have changed the way you verify payments online and via mobile banking.
We need to ensure it’s really you making the payment before the money leaves your account. How you do this depends on whether you’re using:
No, it’s not for every payment. Once saved the person or company you are paying will become ‘Trusted’. That means you may not need to do the identity check again, unless you change details like the sort code, account number, name or reference.
To make payments of more than £500, or totaling more than £1000 per day, you will now need to use the Mobile Banking App to verify your payments.. Business customers using a One-Time Passcode will no longer be able to make payments greater than £500 and will need to use the mobile app to verify payments.Continue to Internet Banking
