Redhead is on the road to global growth

West Yorkshire freight business Redhead International has launched two new depots in Ireland as part of its growth strategy, with backing from the Bank.

Independently-owned Redhead International has invested £2million in two new 30,000 sq ft facilities with funding from the Bank’s Growing Businesses initiative. The new depots in Dublin and Belfast will increase the volume, speed and efficiency of its services in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.

Company profile

Founded in Bradford in 1978, Redhead International supports a range of manufacturers, importers and distributers throughout the UK and overseas.

The company, which has a £31million turnover, has strong links with Palletforce and other pallet networks across Europe, and has additional depots in Glasgow, Burton-upon-Trent, Basildon and Bristol. Employing 200 staff and handling more than 19,000 consignments a month, it operates scheduled services throughout Europe, Scandinavia, Eastern Europe, the Commonwealth of Independent States, Russia and North Africa, with many services operating daily.

The firm prides itself on the range and scope of services it offers. By building strong relationships with freight partners in Europe, it offers an extensive range of routes that are both frequent and reliable.

The management team has an extensive knowledge of the industry, with each individual specialising in either a market or particular part of the business so any decision made is well balanced and thoroughly thought-through.

How will the deal help to drive the business?

Tony Suggitt, Managing Director of Redhead International, said: “We have always had a formidable distribution and collection network across Ireland. These new depots are a big improvement on our previous premises, both in terms of size and facilities and will continue to cement our position as a market leader for Irish freight.

“Our business continues to prosper in spite of challenging financial conditions. We offer a single freight supplier for the whole of Europe and specialise in shipping to countries outside the EU. Our continuing expansion will see us adding further scheduled services to our portfolio and the roll out of a new distribution service across the whole of Russia this year.

“The Bank’s West Yorkshire Business & Private Banking Centre has been very supportive and helpful in backing this latest expansion.”
